For your dedicated service to us for 3 years plus through the worst of the pandemic and beyond, I personally feel a debt of gratitude to you. But also, after reading your book, I feel I know you as a friend and fellow humanitarian. Such a community you have created and I want to remain a part of that community. Carry on, sweet Dr. Emily, we've got your back.
Just finished your book, and I will be passing it onto a faithful young woman at my church (she is my co-teacher of the 8th grade confirmation class) a senior in college headed to medical school. I know she will appreciate your "threading of the needle" of being a passionate scientist and a passionate Christian.
Thanks for your previous contributions and your sharing here. In a world where comments are too often vicious or mean or totally inaccurate, screening has become necessary.
I'm really sorry that folks forget that you're a human too, and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. You have every right to produce and give access to your content as you see fit, and if folks don't like how you choose to do it, then they don't need to consume the content. I think you provide an absolutely critical service, the kind of service that the US government should be providing, but we all know what that looks like right now. I, for one, am beyond thankful for your years of invaluable service, providing clear, factual, helpful information about public health in all of its different forms!

I also bought and read your thoughtful book, and then passed it on to a fellow parishioner!

I love your phrase for peaceful stillness: "the rhythm of the quiet." That is always important but especially in our present world. Thanks!
