Sorry for two emails in one day! I promise I won’t make this a thing. There’s just a lot going on right now and tons of info to share. It will slow down (hopefully) but I’m staying engaged and keeping you up-to-date for now.
Tomorrow (2/12) I’m going to go live on Substack at 11:30am ET with Mark Leon Goldberg. He is the host of the popular podcast, Global Dispatches - World News that Matter. The podcast is the longest running independent international affairs podcast and keeps you up-to-date on all-things global affairs. It is one of the podcasts that I never miss. He has a matter-of-fact way of talking about complex issues that are approachable and packed with perspective.
He also writes an excellent Substack by the same name. Can I tell you a quick story? I’ve been a longtime listener of Mark’s podcast and found out he was leading a conversation at the UN General Assembly last year. I was in NYC at UNGA presenting on a project in collaboration with St. Jude on global children’s cancer care at the Clinton Global Initiative. If you missed that story, you can read about it here and here. Here I am cheesin’.
When I heard that Mark was hosting a side event at UNGA, I immediately signed up. And, was not disappointed! His style of interviewing and talking about global affairs, from policy to development to health, is really approachable. He’s been doing this work for decades and I appreciate the wisdom and perspective that is shared. Needless to say, I’m pumped to chat with him tomorrow.
Come join us on Substack, Wednesday, Feb 12 (tomorrow), 11:30am ET! If you have the Substack app, you’ll see it pop up. Don’t worry if you miss it! We’ll record it and then I’ll send it out to everyone.
We plan to talk about current public health events, like bird flu, Marberg in Tanzania, and Ebola in Uganda, along with how the recent federal freezes impact surveillance. I’m sure we’ll also talk about the current global health landscape too.
Join us! And, don’t forget to subscribe to his Substack newsletter and podcast too.
