Hi everyone,
Thank you to all of you who so generously donated to our Giving Tuesday opportunity last week: The NEW Duke Center for Global Surgery and Health Equity. If you want to read more about it, here’s last week’s post describing it in detail with a short video too.
Updates
We are nearly at our goal! It is not lost on me that many of you donated $5, $10, $500. I’m just so grateful for every single one of you - I know for many families, money is tight and there are lots of places to give. So, thank you for trusting me in this work. I’m beyond grateful for this FNE community and your partnership in one of the most exciting things I’ve had happen in my career so far - being part of the new Center. Friends, this work (FNE work and the Center) is solidarity-love-your-neighbor in real action - here at home and abroad where others call home. Thank you for your partnership.
Happenings
Duke Children’s Hospital has their annual radiothon and you can hear Dr. Rice and the Rwandan team at 9-10am ET here. https://wralfm.com/listen-live/. They are also streaming live on FB if you want to watch there or go back and listen. You can listen to the Center’s co-leader, Dr. Henry Rice (my favorite collabo-friend and you can hear more about him in the linked post here), speak with our Rwandan colleagues about how we are and will partner with them at the renowned and landmark University for Global Health Equity in Rwanda. These partnerships are really important as we move forward in global solidarity.
If you’re in the Duke/RTP area, the Duke Children’s will be selling merchandise (bags, t-shirts, etc) to support their “Season of Hope” opportunities - this supports all of their giving opportunities during this season, including the Center for Global Surgery and Health Equity.
A last word
Thank you again for your support and reading about the Duke Center for Global Surgery and Health Equity. There’s still time to give if you want to help us help children around the world in poverty get healthcare when they need it. Thank you, friends.
I’d love for you to join us to launch this Center. You can watch a short video and donate here on the Center if you want: http://dccc.convio.net/goto/dukeglobalsurgery
In solidarity,
Emily
