Introducing The Friendly Neighbors
Welcome to The Friendly Neighbors!
For 15ish months, I’ve been the Friendly Neighbor Epidemiologist (and, will continue to be). I’m now joining forces with my favorite writer (and person), my hubs. Since he’s not an epidemiologist (bless), we have renamed this newsletter to The Friendly Neighbors.
So, what can you expect in these newsletters?
I’m going to move away from writing about COVID-related items and move more towards global health, women in science, faith, and probably more birds. I think we are all at the point in the pandemic where we start a rebuilding process – rebuilding what was lost or unearthed and moving towards a new normal. I don’t think any of us will be the same after 2020. So, where do we go from here? That’s what we (the hubs and I) want to write more about. Want a look into what we talk about at the dinner table regarding science, faith, and birds (ok, that one is just me)? If you’ve liked my writings, you will love his (and, probably hear very similar thoughts, sentences, and “flow”). I guess that’s what 18 years of marriage does.
This newsletter will have 3 sections:
The main one that I write (you’re already subscribed to this one).
Welcome The Kingdom - Mike will write these weekly reflections on a new faithfulness for re-constructing evangelicals. This is the “where do we go from here with faith?” section. Learn more here.
Beautiful Jesus - Mike will write these bi-weekly reflections on the life of Jesus and its meaning for our lives today. This one will begin in the Gospel of Luke and is more of a bible study type writing. Learn more here.
You can have all writings come to your inbox or pick and choose from the three. In your ‘My Account’ settings on Substack, you can click which one of the sections (or all of them!) you want to come to your inbox. You’re automatically signed up to receive all three of them - but, you can change that at any time in your settings.
Thank you for joining us on this journey! We look forward to sharing our kitchen table conversations with you on women in science, global health, faith, and probably our kids and birds. =)
To get you started, here’s Mike’s introduction to what the Welcome the Kingdom section will be about. I hope you enjoy!
