Hi neighbors! Does it feel like everyone has pneumonia right now? I had been hearing about it on the news or from lots of my friends whose kids had/have it. Then my son went down for the count last week and is still home recovering. What in the world! After super high fevers, passing out on me due to dehydration (I caught him! He’s as tall as me - so you better believe I’m reminding him how strong I am. ha! He’s fine now though and thank goodness I was there.), allergic reactions to medicines, and just feeling puny, I think we are (*knock on wood*) on the mend. But, whoa. And, double whoa for playing whack-a-mole with how to treat it. And, triple whoa for trying to get your kids to eat all the healthy stuff right now.
All that to say - I’m going to delay my Neighbor Tuesday post to next week. I had planned on writing about RFK Jr, but I don’t think you want me to rage-write about that while sleep-deprived and distracted. (Well, actually, that might be a hilarious post. But, I would probably have to apologize after and don’t feel like fighting that battle.)
So, for now, I’m delaying. Next week I was already planning on writing about Thanksgiving - and how to have a game-plan if you’ll be at a Thanksgiving table with people you might be angry with because of the election. Neighboring is also being wise and prepared. =) Especially if you have to chat with your uncle who has dubbed himself the epidemiologist/attorney general/know-it-all/political expert of the family. =) (I think the title of that post will be “How to Survive Thanksgiving without Losing your Ever-Loving Mind”. You might need a plan of what not to say, what to say, and when to just go get another helping of pumpkin pie.) And, in honor of lots of us probably having to cook for next week, here’s the best scene ever! Any other Schitts Creek fans out there and love the fold-in-the-cheese scene? Y’all, hilarious. Watch it on Youtube if you need a good laugh.
Ok, I better stop now, friends. My sleep-deprived brain results in feisty words, albeit funny at times, and I can feel my patience towards Uncle So-and-So (or RFK Jr) waning after 28 seconds. Especially because we have a VACCINE for pneumonia. Let’s hear it for VACCINES! (And flouride and public health!)
So, for real, that’s it for now.
Solidarity to you families dealing with pneumonia right now! Remember the gatorade (my son will dream about me saying “DRINK” for weeks now), take a bath with a good book to relax, and get off the socials. It will help you not rage-write. =)
See you next week, neighbors.

So sorry your son has been so sick with pneumonia! I don’t currently know anyone dealing with it. In my experience, pneumonia usually develops as a secondary infection as a result of a respiratory virus. But I know there’s viral pneumonia too, which is what the vaccine is for. Is that what is going around right now? The viral version?
