Hi Dr. Emily Smith, I feel like you are my friend after such a hard and isolating time.
My husband and I are vaccinated and boosted. My big kids got their first shot a couple of weeks ago. Do you recommend I space out their 2nd dose a bit?
My 3 year old is high risk. No one seems to care about helping us protect her. We plan to see family outdoors only for Thanksgiving. Do you think this is ok and reasonable as we have family members who are antivax and antimask? We are struggling with making these decisions. Luckily we are in CA where masks are required in school. But our church is no longer masking. It's been so hard. 😔
Hi Amanda and thanks for the comment. For your big kids, I would go with the dosing schedule the pediatrician recommends. Re Thanksgiving, that's such a hard decision with a high risk family member. Outdoors with masks is smart if you do go. I'm so sorry about the church situation. There are lots of people in your situation right now. Happy thanksgiving to you and yours!
Hi real-life-friend-nerdy-gal! Thankful for you too. I hope you enjoy some great food with the new ME3 book I saw you got. I haven't ordered mine yet but need to for some "light" holiday reading. =) -Emily
I’ve listened to the first episode! I’m jumping around in the book so I’ll likely be a jumpy podcast listener, too 😍 Really loving the infectious epi chapter (my current read :))
When can we stop wearing masks in public places? I have heard this is related to heard immunity but can we count those with natural immunity after having Covid? My husband and I have had 3 shots yet we have family members who do not feel safe around us because we don't wear masks when we go shopping. Are we taking a risk warranting their concern? When can we start trusting the vaccinations?
Thank you!
Have you seen any forecast about when 14yos will be able to get boosted?
That's a great question! I have not but will keep an eye out.

Do you listen to Matthew Fox's podcast where they go through ME3?
